Check whether an official English version can meet your evidence needs before paying for translation.
Official sources checked: 5 November 2026. Check the live instructions for your appointment or application.
Contact the district office (amphoe or khet) that can issue your record. Give the document type and ask whether an official English version is available, who may request it, what identification or authority is needed, and the current fee and collection arrangements. Availability is not assumed for every record or office.
An English-language document issued by the responsible authority may not need a separate translation. It must still provide the information requested for the visa application. Check names, dates, relationships, registration details and any relevant annotations; do not assume a short English extract replaces every required record.
Use passport spellings consistently. If a name changed or records differ, provide the supporting civil records and an explanation where relevant. Do not modify the original record yourself.
For evidence that remains in Thai, UKVI instructions require a full English or Welsh translation that can be independently verified. Follow the application instructions for originals or copies and translated documents. Translation, notarisation and legalisation are different services; do not order all three automatically.
For a marriage application, check the separate guide to marriage certificates and registration extracts below. Our translation coordination and any translation charge must be specified in your written service quote.
