Tourism visits and visa grants are different

The VisitBritain Thailand market page warns that its 2024 estimates, released in August 2025, have not been updated with the September 2026 revisions. It also warns against comparisons with earlier years. We therefore do not present those old estimates as definitive current totals.

Tourism data generally measures visits by country of residence; one person can make several visits. Visa statistics measure immigration decisions by nationality and include visiting purposes other than tourism. Neither series is a count of customers served by this business. Use the official tourism source with its revision notes for spending, nights and visits.

What these visa statistics measure

Source: Home Office entry-clearance datasets released 27 August 2026, covering 1 July 2025–30 June 2026. Figures for the first two quarters of 2026 are provisional. Counts are by nationality and decision period, not residence, unique people, an agent’s customers or the outcome of applications made in the same period.

Grant share = visas issued ÷ (issued + refused). Withdrawn and lapsed cases are excluded. Applications are a separate series and must not be used as the denominator for a decision-period success rate. This is a description of recorded outcomes, not your personal chance of approval or evidence that an agency caused the result.
